Hello Everyone!!
This week has been a good week :) We went to contact a referral and we found the building, but it had 12 apartments and we didn't have an apartment number. We called the elders that referrered her to us and they dind't know her apartment number and she wasn't answering her phone. So we went back and decided we would just knock on all the doors until we found her. I suggested that we pray first so Sister Densley said a prayer and I felt like we should try number 9. We knocked on number 9 and almost immediately after we knocked, a girl answered. We asked if Linda lived there and she said, "yeah, but she isn't home right now" O.o We clarified that it was the same Linda we were looking for and she said that it was her mom!!! We were so excited!
We got to participate in the mutual activity on Wednesday and that was super fun. They had 6 groups of about 6 kids cycle through different rooms where they had return missionaries talk about where they served and then we had a room where we talked about what it is like to be a missionary. It was really awesome! The youth are so great!
We ate with the Stewarts and Sister Stewart made me Tuna Casserole!!!!!!!! She got my mom's recipe and made it for me because my awesome mother told her it is my favorite :D YAY!!! I felt so loved!!
We got another referral this week from the same elders that told us about Linda so we will be meeting Shelena this week. I am so happy because we were actually able to teach people this week :D
We had Stake Conference on Sunday and a new stake presidency was sustained so we had two visiting general authorities from the Seventy, Elder Michael R. Murray and Elder Carl B. Cook. It was a really great meeting. Afterwards, we were walking up to the front to say goodbye to President and Sister Tateoka (mission president and his wife) and Elder Murray and Elder cook stopped us to shake our hands!!!!!!!! They asked us how the work was going and I said it was good (What else are you supposed to say to a general authority when they catch you off guard!). Elder Cook told us that they know our area is really slow right now and then he said, "It is going to start picking up." and then he walked away. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Thank you Elder Cook!!! That was just so cool and it made us feel really great :D So SIster Densley and I were able to meet three generla authorities within 7 days.
We actually had some luck with one of our investigators that has been meeting with missionaries for years that night when we went to see her. Before we knocked on her door, I said a prayer asking Heavenly Father to help us lift her spirits and give her the desire to have the gospel in her life. She asked us if we could get her a priesthood blessing and she wants to start taking the lessons again!! Also, right before we left, she thanked us for coming and told us that we really lifted her spirits. What?! Literally my whole prayer was answered in that one visit with her!! That was super exciting.
So my scripture this week is a quote from Brigham Young that I came across in my study on temperance.
"Learn to govern yourselves. Bless yourselves and friends, by conquering and controlling yourselves, [for] unless you control [your] passions [and] make all your faculties subservient to the principles God has revealed, you will never arrive at that state of happiness, glory, joy, peace, and eternal felicity that you are anticipating." (DNW, 15 Aug. 1860, 1)
Thank you everyone for your prayers! I just want you all to know that missionary wark is the best! I absolutely love sharing the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all that I can because I know that living by its principles, we will find joy in this life and the next! The Church is so true!!!!
Sister MacKay
P.S Sorry that I don't have any pictures from this week.
