Week 45

6/5/17

So on Tuesday we went to our lesson with Jason, the Christensens went
with us. We talked with him for awhile, but his life is run by his
addictions and so he couldn't focus. Sadly, there isn't anything we
can do for him right now. We are trying to teach his neighbor so we
will get to stop in on him every once in awhile and see how he is
doing. We also had amazing lesson with Karen at the Roof's home. The
Spirit was so strong and Sis. Roof's testimony definitely touched
Karen. She is really working towards re baptism and it is so cool to
be apart of that process. We also had a lesson with William and went
over the questions he will be asked in his baptismal interview. He did
so great! He remembered everything we aren't supposed to partake of in
the Word of Wisdom. He is a great kid and us working with him has
really been helping his mom return from less activity.
Wednesday we had a Book of Mormon study with Frank, another returning
less active. He is doing great! He is a funny guy and likes to make
fun of me because my Dad is a mortician haha. He always asks if he
offers senior discounts, oh Frank. After that we met with Sis. Craford
and Bishop to talk about this service project that Bishop wants us to
be in charge of.
Thursday we went to Turner to have a lesson with Tina, a recent
convert, and Marie, our investigator. The first thing that Marie said
to us was, "I've been reading Tina's Ensign and the Book of Mormon and
I want to get baptized." What?! That's awesome! She has noticed how
Christ centered we are and wants to be apart of that. So we are
working toward June 24th for her baptism!
Friday we had a lesson with Diana and Ed, recent converts, and they
are doing great! After that we did some service for Karen. We are
helping her clear out her house so we spent some time going through
clothes with her. She is so sweet and since we didn't have a dinner
that night she got us some sandwiches :) We visited with Sis. Law for
a little bit. I really enjoyed that because she was a nurse so we
talked about our CNA stories haha. We met a really nice lady at her
door and she talked to us for about 40 minutes, wasn't interested, but
really enjoyed having someone to visit with. Hopefully she will let
missionaries in someday.
Saturday and Sunday there isn't much to report. I got a migraine and
so I was down most of that time. It was so bad on Sunday that we
didn't make it to church, but it's much better now.
I found this quote in my studies in the New Testament.
“Obviously, the personal burdens of life vary from person to person,
but every one of us has them. Furthermore, each trial in life is
tailored to the individual’s capacities and needs as known by a loving
Father in Heaven. Of course, some sorrows are brought on by the sins
of a world not following the counsel of that Father in Heaven.
Whatever the reason, none of us seems to be completely free from
life’s challenges. To one and all, Christ said, in effect: As long as
we all must bear some burden and shoulder some yoke, why not let it be
mine? My promise to you is that my yoke is easy, and my burden is
light. (See Matt. 11:28–30.)” (“Come unto Me,” Ensign, Nov. 1990, 18).
I know this to be true. No matter what we are facing in life, relying
on our Savior, trusting in God, will get us through. Life is so much
better when we live it for Him!
Love you all!
Love,
Sister MacKay
