Hello Everyone!
I had a great week! We spent some time everyday with Adrian as we prepared him for baptism. He was really stressed out last week, but the week leading up to his baptism, he was just fine. He was happy and even invited his family to come (he wasn't going to do that because he was so stressed). I was such a fantastic baptismal service! Sister Ballard (M. Russell Ballard's daughter-in-law) was the one who introduced Adrian to the gospel. He is her garbage man and she felt impressed to meet him about two years ago. After talking briefly with him she asked, "Do you have the priesthood in your home to bless your family?" She continued to reach out to him and share the gospel any way she could. They became great friends and she told him that he needed to give the missionaries a chance if they came by. About a year ago the elders came by and Adrian met with missionaries for almost a year. He decided that he wasn't going to meet anymore. He told the elders that and then told Sister Ballard. She said okay and continued to reach out to him. She ended up inviting him over to watch football with her father-in-law, Elder Ballard, and so he went and met Elder Ballard. He asked him some questions and a few weeks after meeting with him he decided that he wanted to start over and meet with the missionaries again. That was right when Sister Hartvigsen and I were moved into the area. We were able to teach him all the lessons and see him progress. We watched him exercise the Atonement in his life. There was a huge change in him, especially the last week before his baptism. One of the cool things was that Sister Ballard came and my mission president and his wife came. A ton of Adrian's family came and so many ward members. We had so many people there that people had to stand in the hall because there was no more room left to even stand in the room. Sis. Hartvigsen gave a talk on baptism and then Elder Hall (the first elder to teach Adrian) got to baptize him. We showed some videos while they changed and then I gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Sister Ballard gave some comments after me. Adrian was confirmed a member and received the Holy Ghost yesterday in Sacrament meeting. He is so happy and we are so grateful that he has made this covenant with God. He is going to work miracles in his family!!
