Week 24

1/9/17

I'm so excited!!! I'm staying in Amity with Sister Hartvigsen for another transfer! The best part, Adrian is getting baptized this Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first baptism! We are so excited for him and we are looking forward to the amazing changes and blessings it will bring for his family. None of his family are members of the church, but they are throwing multiple parties after his baptism haha. His mom is especially excited for him. I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have had to know him and watch him change through the atonement. I have seen him find so much more joy in life and had the chance to help him build his relationship with his Heavenly Father. I know that even greater things are in store for him as he continues to live faithfully. I'm grateful the Lord allowed me to be an instrument in His hands as he molded Adrian into the man he needs to be :)
I've really gained a huge testimony of service on my mission. The funnest parts of the day are when we find an opportunity to serve people. There is such a aweet feeling that comes when you are helping someone in need or just helping to lift someone's spirit. We had a member in the ward this week who was having some health problems so she wasn't feeling well enough to make us dinner that night. We told her not to worry about it and then made a plan with her husband to surprise her with a dinner. We went out and bought the ingredients. We often stop by their house so she didn't think much of our unexpected arrival. She was very surprised, however, when we went into her kitchen and started cooking haha. It was so much fun, which is crazy for me to say because I have never liked cooking haha.
A few months ago, we had a lady from a different ward ask us to check on someone from her ward that is currently living near us. we stopped by and she talked with us for a little bit but asked us to come back another time. We have been trying her but haven't gotten a hold of her since. We tried again this week and finally she answered the door. She said we couldn't come in and we asked if there was a better time for us to come back. She said we probably shouldn't ever come back and then started talking to us. After a minute of us talking she invited us in! We were so thrilled. It turns out that the night before, she had decided to give herself more fully to God and had asked Him to help her with that. And then we show up on her doorstep the next day! She had to let us in haha. She is a really great person who is dealing with some really awful trials, I really hope we can help her somehow.
Not much happened this weekend because we both got sick and we had predictions of a huge storm coming in so we were told not to drive our cars over the weekend. We spent all Sunday in our apartment since our church was cancelled. So there really isn't much else to say haha. Sorry, but I don't have many pictures this week.
Matthew 5:46-48
46. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same?
47. And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?
48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week!!!

Sometimes I wonder why we do weird pictures...
