Week 13

10/24/16

Hello everyone!
Sorry about the short email last week, it was a crazy day. I'm going to send the pictures that were from last week today since I didn't have time to last time.
So Tuesday we got up at 5am and packed the last minute items. We were very lucky to have the help of Sis. Stewart! She brought her daughter Estie over that morning and helped us clean the apartment and load our luggage up. She then drove our luggage to Redmond where we met the other missionaries getting transferred and got on a van and drove over the mountain to Salem. My new companion is Sister Hartvigsen and I actually knew her before we became companions because she was serving in LaPine which was in my last district. So we actually rode in the van together haha. It rained and snowed the whole drive :D When we got the stake center all the missionaries said their hellos and goodbyes and left. It was raining, we didn't have a way to get ourselves and our luggage out of the rain, and Sister Hartvigsen and I had no ride to get to our new area, the Elders had not arranged anything for us. We got a miracle member who happened to show up at the church and offered us a ride after she heard our situation. By the way, she didn't live near where we needed to be so she was going way out of her way to take us to our apartment. She also didn't just take us there, she took us out to lunch and showed us around the area. It was really just amazing!
My new apartment is huge!! Well not huge, but compared to my last one it is. I don't even know what to do with all the space haha. The Elders left behind quite a few toys and random things so last night we took silly pictures with them :) We have been spending this last week trying to get to know the members and to clean up the area book. It has been an adventure. Its actually really fun. I have also talked to so many people on the street because my companion has a lot more courage than me so she has us talk to everyone. Its been awesome!
I really love Amity and I'm super excited to be here! The church is so true!!
"The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature...
"Yes, Christ changes men, and changed men can change the world." Ezra Taft Benson
I love you all!
Sister MacKay

We were up late stressing about transfers so we decided to have some fun.
