Week 44

5/29/17

We got a visit from Elder Arden of the Quorum of the Seventy on Tuesday! It was a great meeting! I learned a lot about teaching people using the Book of Mormon. He is so funny and made the conference very entertaining. He had us do a lot of participating, which I didn't like when I was called up, but we learned a lot from each other.
We do a lot of tracting, trying to find potential investigators that have talked to missionaries before, but were not contacted again. We didn't have much luck. We did have a referral from the YSA Elders so we went to contact him. He wasn't home so we knocked on his neighbor's door. Demitrio answered the door and was very nice. He has met with missionaries before and come to church. He told us, "I really feel it when you talk to me so I'll try to come to church again." He ended up not making it to church, but hopefully we can start meeting with him.
We were planning for our lesson with Tina and Marie and did a role play to put Marie on date for baptism. I was Marie in the role play and I really felt like she was going to say no to the date, but say that she would think and pray about baptism. Sis. Voorhies got a little frustrated at the end of the role play because she doesn't feel like they help. It was really cool though, because in our lesson, Marie said almost exactly what I had said as her in the role play. So we were able to address her concerns and it turned out really great. That definitely strengthened my testimony of role plays.
We finally met the referral the Elders gave us, Jason. He really wants to make a change in his life. We talked to him for an hour, just getting to know him and he said we can come back on Tuesday. He is in a really bad spot and we know the gospel will help so we hope he will let it. He started walking to the store when we were talking to him so we walked with him for a little bit. When we split ways, I asked him to not go buy his beer haha. It didn't work, but at least I tried!
I'm sorry this email is so short this week. I wasn't feeling too great a couple of the days so we didn't get to do much. I don't even have pictures, man, I've been slacking! I'll do better next week.
“These considerations did not deter me from the path of duty; the moment I understood the will of my Heavenly Father, I felt a determination to go at all hazards, believing that He would support me by His almighty power, and endow me with every qualification that I needed.” Heber C. Kimball
"Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it." Enos 1:15

Sister MacKay
