This was a crazy week! Last Monday, I helped Sister Hartvigsen pack and get ready to go home. That day was okay because we kept busy all day and didn"t have time to really think about what was happening. Tuesday morning was a killer. We both woke up around 6 and just laid there in bed with knots in our stomachs, mine because I love her and didn't want her to leave and hers because this huge change was about to happen. We first went to the Hermana's apartment to pick up Hermana Tanuvasa since Hermana Riley got transferred to Redmond. When it was time for Sis. Hartvigsen and I to say goodbye, we both just lost it, especially me. We cried and hugged and cried some more.
It was really hard to say goodbye, both Hermana Tanuvasa and I sat in the apartment crying for a little bit haha. Then we got to work! Getting our areas ready for our new companions. We planned our day and made sure our apartments would be ready for them.
Companions for a few hours!!!
When Hermana Hunt got here, we loaded her stuff in the car and took it back to their apartment. They learned that neither one of them have a drivers license so they are now walking :/ bummer. So I was driving them around for awhile, plus they needed to stay with me until I got my new companion. Sister Judd got here so we went and picked her up, once again loading up the car. I was so tired that night because I was the one lifting all the luggage into the car..not really sure why, I guess just because I just wanted to get it done so I did it myself haha.
Sister Judd has been out for six months and served in Brownsville before coming here. She is from Mesa, AZ so we are Arizona buddies!! She loves photography and it is very obvious that she loves the people. Coming to a new area has been a little difficult for her, but she is doing so much better. We are working with a lot of people and it is hard to get thrown into an area with so many investigators and have to learn all of them, their needs, desires, personalities and how we plan to help them. The stress increased because we also were planning a baptism! Javier got baptized on Saturday and that was so great!
It was really hard to plan because Sis. Judd hadn't planned one yet and didn't know any of the people so I was really trying to do it on my own. I ended up just turning most of the responsibility over to the ward missionaries and our ward mission leader. I definitely needed that relief.
We had some really great lessons this week with Autumne and alos Krista. Both of them really showed a desire to learn more and make some changes. We met with Katie and Dustin and talked about how they ward can help them with their wedding. We presented them with a baptism plan and asked them to work towards May 20th for their baptism. It might not be that soon because we don't know when they will get married, but they seemed very open to help from the ward.
Because the Hermanas don't have a car now (since neither one can drive) we have been giving them rides. It is nice to be able to have the car and be so close so we can help them out. Because we are doing that, we will need to walk more as well so we can save miles. Speaking of walking, our car sometimes doesn't detect the key and doesn't have a manual locking system, so we got locked out of our car the other day since it wasn't detecting the key. We decided that we should go do some tracting since the Lord had some reason for us not being able to get in our car. We ended up getting rained on, and our jackets were in the car. It was fun though, we talked to a few people, none of them interested, but we tried!
"We must be confident in our first promptings.Sometimes we rationalize; we wonder if we are feeling a spiritual impression or if it is just our own thoughts. When we begin to second-guess, even third-guess, our feelings--and we all have--we are dismissing the Spirit; we are questioning divine counsel. The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that if you will listen to the first promptings, you will get it right nine times out of ten" Ronald A. Rasband
Love,
Sister MacKay
