Week 14

10/31/16

Hello everyone!!!
I am absolutely loving Amity!! It is beautiful here! It is always raining and it is such a cute farm town. I am also very grateful for the opportunity to do my laundry in my apartment now instead of having to go somewhere else.
So on Monday night we taught Noah. He had been taught a few times by the Elders so we were trying to see where he was at. We asked him if he knew the Book of Mormon was true and he thought about it for a minute and said, "I think so.......well, yeah, I know it is" We asked him if he would get baptized and he said maybe in a few months. I don't remember what I said to him after that but what I said and our commitment to pray about a baptismal date really got him thinking. We got a text Tuesday night, so the next day, and he said he wanted to be baptized on November 4th!!!!! This Friday!!!! We spent this weekend cramming in his last lessons, he got his interview today and he is getting baptized this Friday!!! My first baptism!!! I'm so excited! He is so prepared for the gospel!
We have another investigator who was thinking about giving up on meeting with the missionaries and going to church, but he actually has been in contact with Sister Ballard, M. Russell Ballard's daughter in law who is married to the Portland mission's President, and he said that her friendship made him decide to give it another try. So he asked us to start the lessons over with him. He has great potential to be baptized he just has had a rough past so there is a lot of stuff he has to work past. He watched football with M. Russell Ballard though..I'm jealous.
We found a couple new investigators this week. One off them told us about all the miracles he has witnessed as a truck driver. The other one was so closed off to us when we first started talking to her but as we just made small talk, she got more comfortable and invited us in and said we could come back and said she wants to come to church! Miracles are happening in Amity!
I love the members here! We had a coordination meeting with the ward missionaries, ward mission leader, and bishop and they were all so excited with our reports. Bro. Gipson, ward mission leader, was bearing testimony of how "with the new Sisters, miracles are going to be happening." And when Bishop left he stopped in the doorway, turned around, and very enthusiastically said, "This is just awesome!" They are all very obviously excited to have us.
"And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
"That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
I know this church is true! I know that the Book of Mormon was translated through Joseph Smith through the power of God. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that he restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet of God on the earth today. This is the Lord's work and His glory. I am on His errand. I'm truly grateful to be His servant.
